Halal lamb carved on the board for a Houston gathering by Chef Fassi

Halal

Halal, cooked at the
same standard.

Ask for halal and you get halal — sourced for your event and written into the menu from the first draft, not substituted in at the end. The technique does not change, and an Eid dinner is cooked like the occasion it is.

The Difference

Designed halal, not adapted

Tell Chef Fassi halal at the start and the menu is built that way from the first draft — designed around what works, rather than adapted at the end.

A halal menu is written from the protein outward. Lamb, beef, poultry and seafood carry the weight of the courses, the sauces are built to stand on stock and reduction, and every dish is chosen because it works on its own terms rather than approximated from something else. The result should not read as a restricted menu. It should just read as the menu.

Racks of halal lamb carved on the board for an Eid gathering in Houston by Chef Fassi

Occasions

What he is asked to cook

Walimas & nikah dinners

Seated or stationed, scaled from an intimate family dinner to several hundred guests, entirely alcohol-free.

Eid gatherings

Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha tables for extended family. These are the first dates to fill — book months out.

Ramadan iftars & suhoors

Timed to maghrib, not to a service window, with the opening courses built to be eaten after a full day of fasting.

Halal private dinners

The full tasting menu experience at home, for families who simply want to eat at this level without the sourcing question.

Corporate & community events

Fundraisers, board dinners and mosque or community functions where every guest can eat the same menu.

Weekly halal meal prep

An ongoing rotation for households who want the sourcing handled and the cooking done.

How It Is Handled

Set to your family’s standard

Halal is arranged per event rather than being the default. Chef Fassi has cooked for halal households in Houston for years, so tell him what your family keeps when you inquire and the menu is built around it. The points he settles with you first:

  • Halal meat and poultry sourced for your event
  • Zabiha specifically, or a particular butcher you already trust
  • Separate equipment, and nothing non-halal prepared on site
  • Alcohol out of the cooking, not only out of the glasses
  • Gelatin, rennet, vanilla extract and stock bases checked rather than assumed

Service Area

Halal catering across Greater Houston

Chef Fassi serves the whole of the Greater Houston area — every neighborhood below, inside the loop and well beyond it, from River Oaks dining rooms to Katy new builds and Galveston beach houses. If your address is not listed, it is almost certainly still covered. Travel outside the metro is arranged on request.

FAQ

Halal catering in Houston — straight answers

Do you cook halal?

Yes, on request. Chef Fassi sources halal meat and poultry for clients who ask, and writes the menu around it — the same technique and the same standard as any other event. Say so at the inquiry stage and it is built in from the first draft of the menu.

Is the meat zabiha, and where is it sourced?

Ask at the inquiry stage and you will get a straight answer before you book rather than afterward. If your family requires zabiha specifically, or sourcing from a particular butcher, name it at the inquiry stage — Chef Fassi will source from them where he can, and say so directly where he cannot.

What about cross-contamination and separation?

Chef Fassi cooks in your kitchen with his own equipment, so the handling is visible to you rather than happening in a kitchen you never see. Name the standard your household keeps — separate equipment, no non-halal items prepared on site, or something stricter — and he will tell you what he can do before you book. This is not a certified halal kitchen.

Can the event be alcohol-free?

Yes. Ask for it and alcohol comes out of the cooking as well as the service — worth asking about specifically, because a wine reduction or a splash of brandy in a sauce is the easiest thing in the world to overlook. Menus are rewritten so the dish does not depend on it rather than simply having it left out.

Do you cater halal weddings, walimas and Eid gatherings?

Yes — walimas, nikah dinners, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha gatherings, Ramadan iftars and suhoors, and aqiqah celebrations, with halal sourcing arranged for the event. These book early, and Ramadan and both Eids fill furthest in advance.

What cuisines work well halal?

Nearly all of Chef Fassi’s repertoire. Argentinian grilling is built on beef and lamb and translates directly. French technique applies to halal proteins without modification. Mediterranean and Italian menus need the least adjustment of all.

“The halal menu was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. Everyone at our Eid gathering felt included, and the presentation was absolutely beautiful.”
